[Scheme-reports] Formal Response #434: List of named characters is incomplete John Cowan 11 Oct 2012 20:30 UTC

This is a Formal Response to Formal Comment #434:

List of named characters is incomplete

The editors adjusted the draft to clarify that implementations may provide
whatever additional character names they see fit, and that #\iota is a
valid name only in an implementation that provides both the character
itself and the name.

The name "iota" is in fact drawn from a W3C-maintained list of HTML/XML
entity names, ultimately of ISO origin. However, the WG voted not to
recommend any particular source of additional character names.

If you are dissatisfied with this Formal Response, please let us know.
Thank you for participating in the R7RS process.
